This page explains what we collect when you order, write to us or add a sighting to the wasp map, who helps us process it, and how to have it removed.

Sweet Figs Nursery is a small fig nursery in California. We collect what we need to send you plants and answer your questions, and nothing for advertising. We don't sell or rent your information to anyone.
What we collect
- When you order: your name, email address, shipping address, what you bought and what you paid. Payment is taken on Stripe's own checkout page — your card details never reach our servers and we can't see them.
- When you use the contact form: your name, email address, your message, an order number if you give one, and any photos you attach. Photos are resized in your browser before they are sent, which also removes the location data phones embed in them. They are stored privately and seen only by us.
- When you ask to be told something is back in stock: your email address and which variety. We send one email when it returns and then delete your address. We don't send a confirmation, and it isn't added to any list.
- When you report a fig wasp sighting: the name you enter, the zip code and the date. The name and zip code are shown publicly on the map, so use a first name or a nickname if you prefer. We never ask for or store a street address.
- Rate limiting: for the two public forms we keep a salted, one-way hash of your IP address so one visitor can't flood them. It can't be turned back into an IP address.
- Server logs: like every website, our hosting records requests (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.
Cookies and browser storage
We don't use advertising or analytics cookies, so there is no cookie banner. Your browser stores a few things for you: the contents of your cart, your wishlist, whether you chose the light or dark theme, and the email address you last used for a back-in-stock alert so you don't retype it. All of it stays on your device. If you play a video on a variety page, YouTube sets its own cookies at that point — not before.
Who helps us process it
| Service | What they handle |
|---|---|
| Stripe | Payment, and the billing and shipping details you enter at checkout |
| Google Cloud | Hosting for this website and its database, in the United States |
| Resend | Sending order confirmations, back-in-stock alerts and our replies to your messages, and delivering contact-form messages to us |
| Shippo | Buying USPS postage: they receive your name and shipping address to print the label, and run the address check |
| Meta (Facebook & Instagram) | Ad measurement, only if you arrived from one of our ads: the Meta Pixel sets a cookie so we can tell which ads lead to visits and purchases. It never sees your card or address |
| USPS and other carriers | Your name and address, to deliver the parcel |
| YouTube | Video playback, only when you press play |
| OpenStreetMap | Map images on the fig wasp map; their servers see your IP address when the map loads |
Each of these companies handles your information under its own privacy policy. We share only what each needs to do its job.
How long we keep it
- Orders are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
- Contact messages are kept until your question is resolved and for a reasonable time afterwards, then deleted. Photos attached to them are deleted automatically after 12 months.
- Wasp sightings stay on the map until you ask us to remove yours.
Your choices
Email orders@sweetfigsnursery.com to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, including a sighting you added to the map. We'll do it promptly, and we won't treat you any differently for asking. We keep order records where the law requires us to. California residents have these rights under the CCPA; we extend them to everyone.
Children
This site is for adults buying plants. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new date. Questions: orders@sweetfigsnursery.com or the contact form.
